SUCAFINA’S IMPACT PROGRAM RECOGNIZED BY THE GLOBAL COFFEE PLATFORM AS COFFEE SUSTAINABILITY REFERENCE CODE EQUIVALENT, 2ND PARTY ASSURANCE

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – July 7, 2023 – Sucafina is pleased to announce that IMPACT, its responsible sourcing program, has been recognized by the Global Coffee Platform (GCP) as equivalent to the Coffee Sustainability Reference Code (Coffee SR Code), 2nd party assurance. This recognition provides confidence that IMPACT coffee is produced and processed in accordance with global sustainability standards.

Sucafina’s IMPACT program elevates and rewards farmers for their role in reshaping the coffee industry for good while increasing the supply of fully traceable, responsibly sourced coffee and providing data-driven insights to help customers to meet their sustainability commitments. In addition to ensuring that supply chain practices are sustainable and ethical, IMPACT incorporates five ambitious goals to address key sustainability issues, such as deforestation and farming household living income gap.

IMPACT was developed in line with the Coffee SR Code, a framework created by the GCP to standardize principles and best practices that advance sustainable coffee production. Additionally, IMPACT has now passed assessment under the GCP Equivalence Mechanism – a process that evaluates sustainability schemes against the Coffee SR Code criteria and a set of operational criteria that ensures a credible and effective system for implementation.

“We are proud that Sucafina’s IMPACT program has been recognized by the GCP as equivalent to the Coffee SR Code, 2nd party assurance. GCP equivalence provides credible, independent validation that IMPACT includes global social, economic, and environmental standards that drive positive, measurable change in key areas of coffee sustainability. GCP equivalence also supports our ambition to create a fairer, more resilient, and more transparent coffee industry by investing in farmers, caring for people, and protecting our planet,” said Suzanne Uittenbogaard, Group Sustainability Program Manager at Sucafina.

“IMPACT is one of the most important tools for delivering Sucafina’s purpose of creating opportunities for people to improve lives. We are delighted that IMPACT has reached this milestone and we are excited about the next steps as we continue to develop and roll out the program,” said Nicolas A. Tamari, CEO of Sucafina.

Since IMPACT’s launch in 2022, Sucafina has already started to implement IMPACT in its supply chains, including Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, and Vietnam, and expects IMPACT to be rolled out in all its direct supply chains by 2025.
