SUPPORTING WOMEN'S HEALTH & EDUCATION IN ETHIOPIA

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND, June 22, 2021 – Girls should be the architects of their own futures. The Girls Gotta Run Foundation (GGRF) is making that possible for female scholar-athletes in Ethiopia. This week, Sucafina has organized a 5k fun run to raise money for GGRF’s scholarships, which help girls succeed at school and beyond with a rigorous program that addresses their physical and mental wellbeing.

Only half of the Ethiopian girls who enroll in primary schools ever reach grade 5. GGRF is the first and only non-profit to use Ethiopia's national sport of running to provide opportunities and protections for adolescent girls in rural communities across Ethiopia. Students in the program receive full tuition, school lunches, a healthcare subsidy, mentorship, and menstrual hygiene supplies for the entire academic year.

In 2020, Sucafina partnered with GGRF and raised $20,000 to help female students succeed. It costs $1,000 to support one student and her mother, so together, we raised enough money to sponsor 20 students in 2020.

On June 24, 2021, for the second year in a row, Sucafina employees across the globe will unite to raise money for GGRF by running or walking 5k. The funds raised will sponsor educational scholarships, running clubs, life skills training, and healthcare for girls and their mothers for the 202122 academic year.

You can also get involved by donating to the project directly. Sucafina SA will match all donations made until the end of July 2021.GGRF is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. To learn more about the organization and its work, visit girlsgottarun.org.
