August 12, 2025 – Sucafina’s IMPACT Program is going from strength to strength as we continue to expand its reach and grow its presence across our supply chains. Today, we’re sharing key numbers alongside other updates and highlights from our work in 2024.
Launched in 2022, IMPACT is Sucafina’s strategic sourcing program that ensures reliable, traceable coffee and drives sustainable growth for farmers and roasters, together. IMPACT Verified offers responsibly sourced, traceable coffees that comply with regulatory requirements and rigorous social, environmental and economic standards. IMPACT Beyond goes further by driving measurable, long-term change in five key areas of sustainability: living income, regenerative agriculture, carbon emissions, human rights and forest conservation.
In 2024, we not only strengthened and expanded IMPACT Verified, but also deepened collaboration with partners on IMPACT Beyond projects and equipped our teams to help advance sustainability from within.
Strengthening IMPACT Verified
We continued to roll out IMPACT Verified across our operations in 2024. As of the end of the year, we had verified 54,459 farmers and 50 farmer groups across 14 origin countries. We are adding more supply chains as we continue to expand IMPACT.
To obtain IMPACT Verified status, farms and facilities are assessed based on compliance with a set of supply chain practices, or indicators, aligned with the Global Coffee Platform. Critical to this process is the extensive baseline data we collect and analyze from our supply chains on key areas of sustainability, such as regenerative agriculture and living income. This includes in-depth surveys conducted with farmers in IMPACT supply chains. In 2024, we carried out 17 surveys, including over 2,100 farmers across seven origins.
We also significantly enhanced our data tools and processes in 2024. By standardizing farmer survey questions across all supply chains, developing customized validation tools for each country and adding visual representations of key metrics, we’ve reduced delays and improved decision-making.
We use this data to produce a report for each IMPACT supply chain, highlighting performance across key metrics, as well as suggested actions to guide continuous improvement, such as training and support for farmers.
Going Further with IMPACT Beyond
IMPACT Beyond is designed to contribute to lasting, measurable change in the coffee supply chain by targeting the five IMPACT Goal areas. To ensure that we deliver transparency and shared value for all stakeholders, we produce an IMPACT Progress Report at the country level every three years. These reports include tailored, data-driven supply chain insights that help to guide investment and the implementation of transformative projects across the IMPACT Goal areas.
In 2024, we collaborated for the first time with a number of partners on IMPACT Beyond projects that are already making a difference for coffee farmers and their communities and contributing to efforts to improve environmental sustainability.
Guiding the Future of IMPACT
Formed in 2023 to strengthen the governance of IMPACT, our IMPACT Advisory Committee provides strategic guidance on the implementation and direction of the program. Sitting alongside representatives from Sucafina’s Global Sustainability Team, five external committee members offer a wealth of knowledge and experience from across the coffee and development sectors.
In March 2024, the IMPACT Advisory Committee gathered in Rwanda to take part in field visits and review progress. They also discussed priorities for future development, including further strengthening the value that IMPACT brings to farmers.
Our First IMPACT Ambassador Graduates
In November 2024, we celebrated the first graduates of Sucafina’s IMPACT Ambassadors Program. Fifteen members of our Trade, Finance and Origin teams completed the one-year program that equips participants with the skills and confidence needed to advance IMPACT and other sustainability initiatives.
The IMPACT Ambassadors took part in online sustainability training modules covering the five IMPACT Goal areas. They also traveled to Kenya and Rwanda, gaining valuable insights into the needs of coffee farmers and the challenges faced at origin.
