PROTECTING OUR PLANET ON EARTH DAY

April 22, 2026 – Protecting Our Planet is one of the three pillars that guide Sucafina’s Sustainability Strategy and this Earth Day, we’re highlighting some of the ways we’re translating that ambition into action, across our operations and through our  IMPACT responsible sourcing program.

This year’s Earth Day theme, ‘Our Power, Our Planet’, is a reminder that meaningful change is built through collective action. For Sucafina, Protecting Our Planet means supporting coffee landscapes that can remain productive and resilient for generations to come, through forest conservation, regenerative practices, climate action and responsible resource use. Here are five ways we’re making that happen.

Forest conservation and traceability

Forests play a vital role in mitigating climate change, preserving biodiversity and supporting farming communities. Monitoring and mitigating deforestation risk in our supply chains is a crucial part of this. Our monitoring now encompasses over 437,602 farm plots, strengthening traceability and supporting regulatory compliance. We also continue to support approaches that help to maintain and restore tree cover within coffee landscapes, from promoting agroforestry initiatives to distributing tree seedlings.

Climate action in the supply chain

We’re working to better understand and reduce greenhouse gas emissions across our operations and supply chains – from improving energy efficiency to piloting approaches that support more climate-resilient, lower-emission coffee production. In Kenya, Rwanda and Vietnam, we are implementing large-scale projects with partners, focused on practical interventions, such as agroforestry systems, improved fertilizer management, composting, soil analysis and biodigesters that convert animal waste into a clean, household energy source.

Regenerative agriculture in action

Through our IMPACT Program, we promote regenerative agriculture practices that improve farm productivity, soil health and biodiversity while reducing climate impacts. These approaches are adapted to local contexts, supporting farmers to adopt practices that benefit both the environment and coffee productivity. Our regenerative agriculture methodology was externally validated in 2025, supporting a consistent approach as we continue to scale.

Promoting water stewardship

Conserving water resources is also a focus of our sustainability efforts. Access to clean water is essential for both coffee production and community wellbeing. In Colombia, for example, our Coffee for Clean Water Beyond Flagship project – implemented with local partners – supports improved access to safe drinking water infrastructure in coffee-growing communities that lack reliable supply. These efforts help strengthen community resilience while supporting more sustainable coffee production.

Reducing waste and improving resource use

Reducing waste helps lower environmental impact while improving efficiency across the value chain. At origin, for example, our initiatives focus on valorizing coffee by-products, such as reusing pulp and organic waste to create compost and other inputs. Further along the supply chain, we are also working with partners to develop more sustainable packaging solutions, including compostable coffee formats at Beyers Koffie.

Protecting Our Planet requires ongoing commitment collaboration, investment and continuous improvement. By working closely with farmers, clients and other partners, we are helping to build more sustainable, more resilient coffee supply chains that deliver for both people and planet over the long term.
