GENEVA, SWITZERLAND, July 25, 2023 – Sucafina is pleased to announce that it has joined the International Labour Organization’s Child Labour Platform (ILO CLP). The platform brings together businesses, governments, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to share knowledge and best practices and coordinate collective action to eliminate child labor, particularly in supply chains and neighboring communities.
Joining the Child Labour Platform is an important step toward strengthening Sucafina’s efforts to identify child labor risks in our supply chain. As a member, we will benefit from the expertise and knowledge of the ILO and make a greater impact by coordinating efforts and resources and collaborating on projects to tackle child labor,” says Catherine Rehbinder, Global CSR Manager at Sucafina.
Respecting and promoting human rights is one of the main goals of Sucafina’s sustainability strategy and its responsible sourcing program, IMPACT. Sucafina has been working to reinforce and expand its human rights policies and develop a robust human rights due diligence approach. Membership of the Child Labour Platform strengthens Sucafina’s commitment to assessing, preventing, and remediating this critical issue in the supply chain.
The Child Labour Platform currently has 24 member companies, including major multinationals in the food and beverage, clothing, construction materials, luxury goods, and tech sectors. The platform runs a number of programs and working groups in countries where collaborations with NGOs and governments are already established. These include some of Sucafina’s origin countries, such as India, Ivory Coast, Uganda, and Vietnam.
