FARMER CONNECT USES IBM BLOCKCHAIN TO BRIDGE THE GAP BETWEEN CONSUMERS AND SMALLHOLDER COFFEE FARMERS

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND, January 7, 2020 – In its continuous effort to improve traceability in the global coffee supply chain, Sucafina announced in September 2019 a collaboration with Farmer Connect SA – a tech startup building farm-to-consumer traceability solutions for enterprises based on the IBM Food Trust Platform.

Sucafina is pleased to be part of this collaboration with Farmer Connect SA, who announced today a new consumer mobile application called “Thank my Farmer,” at the 2020 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) to bridge the gap between consumers and smallholder coffee farmers.

“Thank My Farmer” will allow coffee drinkers to trace their coffee to understand its quality and origin, and even support farmers who grew the beans. European consumers will be able to access the app through a new single-origin brand, Beyers 1769, roasted at Beyers Koffie.
