SUCAFINA'S 2021 SUSTAINABILITY REPORT

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND, September 5, 2022 – Sucafina is proud to release its annual sustainability report, “Shared Value for a Better Future,” for the year 2021. The report provides updates on Sucafina’s progress towards its sustainability strategy and on many of the corporate social responsibility projects it worked on around the world during 2021.

Last year, Sucafina launched its 2030 sustainability strategy, pledging to focus its actions on three essential pillars of its business – Investing in Farmers, Caring for People, and Protecting Our Planet. The strategy was developed after collecting extensive feedback from key stakeholders to better understand their perception of Sucafina’s environmental and social impacts and the issues at stake for the sector.

In 2021, the Sucafina team translated this strategy into an action plan by defining main goals, actions, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for each strategic pillar. This action framework is published in the 2021 sustainability report, along with initial results for the goals and KPIs and highlights from across all three sustainability pillars, including:

  • Projects that are having real impact on the lives and livelihoods of the almost 200,000 farmers Sucafina works with, as well as wider farming communities.
  • How Sucafina has strengthened its human rights frameworks and continued to enhance employees' health & safety, wellbeing, and career development.
  • Initial results from Sucafina’s efforts to conserve water resources, reduce carbon emissions, and minimize deforestation in its supply chains.

Nicolas A. Tamari, CEO of Sucafina, said:

"Since the release of our 2030 strategy, we have learned a great deal. While we still have a long way to go on our sustainability journey, we are proud of what we achieved in 2021. We look forward to collaborating with all of our stakeholders to create a net positive coffee industry."

Sucafina’s ambition is to report more comprehensively on its actions and progress each year and continue to play a leading role in reshaping our industry by creating sustainable value for all stakeholders.
